Demonstration Garden
A demonstration garden was established in 2011 on site at the University of Missouri Taney County Extension Office. The gardens give residents a place to learn about plants that do well in our area, as well as to see gardening techniques and methods.
The gardens include a Rain Garden, Butterfly Garden, Herb Garden, Keyhole Garden, Shade Garden, Composting Areas and Native Beds including grasses, shrubs and trees..
Master Gardener Volunteers work the second and fourth Thursdays of each month to maintain and expand the current gardens.
The Demonstration Garden hosts various programs for the public free of charge. The Brown Bag Lunch Garden Series was started in 2013 with a lunchtime speaker on the first Tuesday of the month, April though September. From that we have grown to Saturday classes and in 2014 hosted our first Evening in The Garden. Check our schedule for the 2015 programs. All programs are held on site at our garden pergola.
Our herb garden is open to the public to harvest any fresh herbs that are in season.
